Shanghai Jiading Design District上海嘉定设计港

Shanghai Jiading Design District is a commissioned commercial development of about 12,250 m² in Jiading, Shanghai, planned by Atelier Alter in 2018 as a compact district for the design industry.

The scheme groups a cluster of towers and low podium blocks around a landscaped courtyard. The tower façades are drawn as continuous ribbed surfaces that bend and sweep upward, so that each building reads as a single flowing form rather than a stack of floors. Glazing and metal fins catch the light at dusk, and the lower levels carry active retail frontages with warm interior lighting.

At street level the blocks are separated by pedestrian lanes that lead into a green, terraced courtyard, linking the shops, offices and open space into one walkable quarter. Diagrams and elevations in the project file study how the towers, podium and circulation routes interlock across the site.
